Empowered Giving

The Charity Experiment is founded on the concept of "empowered giving." We define empowered giving as "the equipping of charitable donors with the knowledge and ability to donate to the most effective charities in the world."

Our empowered giving model ensures that you are

  1. highly informed about the most trustworthy & effective charities in the world

  2. able to donate any amount on a recurring basis; and

  3. capable of making a greater impact than ever before.

According to a recent study by the Giving USA Foundation, 70% of all charitable contributions in the United States are made by individual donors. Giving USA Foundation chair, Aggie Sweeney, stated that in 2017 "contributions went up nearly across the board, signaling that Americans seem to be giving according to their beliefs and interests, which are diverse and wide-ranging."

The Charity Experiment is your guide for discovering the best bang for your charitable buck. We only make donations to the most impactful and financially transparent charitable organizations on the planet.

We have high standards for the organizations that we partner with, which is why we provide you with supporting research and clear evidence of each organization's effectiveness & efficiency. When you sign up to give on a recurring basis, you can feel confident that your money will be put to good use every single month.

Empowering You with the knowledge You Need to make a real difference

31% of all charitable contributions are made to religious organizations. If you feel inclined to donate to a religious organization, you should certainly do so. The organizations that we recommend tend to focus on issues that include, but are not limited to, extreme poverty, treatment and prevention of the deadliest diseases in the world, and providing clean drinking water.

We believe that with the widespread adoption of our empowered giving method, donations may be allocated to organizations that are guaranteed to put the money to good use and in turn solve more problems.

It is our goal to engage with those who may have been previously indifferent regarding their charitable impact as well as those unaware of the empowered giving and effective altruism movements.

We may only be one portion of your overall charitable giving strategy—we're totally OK with that. A perfectly rational and valid scenario might be to:

  1. First, determine the amount you might be comfortable giving each year.

  2. Donate 25% to a local homeless shelter.

  3. Donate another 25% to your son's school music program.

  4. Give 50% to the most effective charities in the world through The Charity Experiment.

The desire to donate to charities that are near and dear to your heart is only human. We're here to endear you to the organizations that we know produce some of the most promising outcomes in the world.

We want to empower you to make an informed donation decision.
