How does it work?

VOTE

Each month we nominate three worthy charitable organizations for you to vote on. At the end of the month, we'll tally the votes and donate 100% of the proceeds collected to the winner.

All of the organizations listed on The Charity Experiment are backed by extensive philanthropic research and have proven to significantly impact the cause that they represent.

We ensure that every penny donated has a real, tangible impact.

Even if the cause area that you selected didn't win, rest assured knowing that your donation will still contribute to a highly effective organization.

GIVE

Nobody made a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could do only a little.
— Edmund Burke

Give as much or as little as you'd like!

With the ability to give as little as $.50/month, you can be confident that your contribution goes further than ever by joining together with like-minded humanitarians.

REPEAT

Our email newsletter will keep you engaged with updates on when to vote, the work that our nominated organizations are doing, and general information around the effective altruism movement.

The Charity Experiment allows you to be as hands-on or hands-off as you like. Let your recurring donation do its work or explore our resources page, nominate an organization, read our blog, and contact us to get involved further.

Effective altruism consists of the honest and impartial attempt to work out what’s best for the world, and a commitment to do what’s best, whatever that turns about to be.
— William Macaskill, author of 'Doing Good Better'
